What is it?
Photovoltaic cells, or solar cells, convert light directly into electricity.How Does it Work?
Solar cells are made of two semi-conducting layers. When light hits the top layer, electrons move from one layer to the other. This creates a voltage difference which can be used as a power source.Why is it Beneficial?
An average household uses 800 kW-hr of electricity per month. If solar power delivered half of that for 28 years it would prevent the production of:
